The app records nothing

Check that the microphone is allowed: iPhone Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone > Hoot. If another app is using the microphone (an ongoing call, voice memos, screen recording), close it and start the night again.

No moments captured in the morning

Sometimes that is good news: there was nothing to report. Otherwise it is almost always a matter of placement: move the iPhone closer to your head (within a metre) and leave it uncovered — under a pillow or a duvet it hears almost nothing. There is no sensitivity to adjust: Hoot measures your room’s own silence every night and adapts on its own.

My sleep stages look wrong

Without a smartwatch, stages are an estimate computed from sound and movement: it shows a trend, not a measurement. If you wear a watch AND you subscribe to Hoot Pro, allow Health access in Settings > Health app to use your real stages: this is also what unlocks the night score. Without the subscription, the setting stays inactive.

The battery drops a lot

A night of listening uses roughly 5 to 10 % of battery with the screen off. If you see much more, check that no other app is running in the background, and plug the iPhone in.

Manage or cancel my subscription

The subscription is managed by Apple: open iPhone Settings > your name > Subscriptions, then choose Hoot. You can change plan or cancel there. If you have already paid and Premium is not active, use "Restore purchases" on the Hoot Pro screen.

Erase my data

Settings > Your data > Erase all my nights permanently deletes every audio clip and the whole history. Deleting the app has the same effect.
